I was quite surprised and more than a bit excited to find out that Jodi over at jodistone had presented me with The Liebster Award. Thank you Jodi for recognizing my blog with this award! Jodi’s blog, which tells of her adventures with her two dogs Sampson and Delilah, is always a joy to read and usually has me laughing out loud. Sampson is such the handsome gentleman dog and Delilah, well, she is always eating things she shouldn’t and is usually up to some hilarious and mischievous tricks. So Jodi, congratulations on your award and thank you for mine!
From what I can determine, The Liebster Award is given to blogs with fewer than 200 subscribers by a blogger who feels they deserve more recognition. It sounds like a nice way to let bloggers know you like their blogs as well as to share your favorite blogs with your fellow bloggers. There are some general rules that go along with this award.
- Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
- Reveal your top five picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
- Copy and paste the award on your blog.
- Hope that the people you’ve sent the award to forward it to their five favorite bloggers and keep it going!
Last night after telling Husband about getting this award bestowed upon me and telling what goes along with getting the award he said “That sounds like a chain letter.” If I were a man with a big bushy moustache I would have immediately and loudly huffed into it to show my displeasure with his reaction but since I am neither a man nor do I happen to have a moustache, I just loudly huffed. Not nearly as theatrical, I know, but one must work with what they have.
Husband is not a blogger nor is he one who reads blogs so he just doesn’t get it. Sure, The Liebster Award may sound like a chain letter but unlike a real chain letter, if I don’t follow the instructions I will not loose all my money or have three years of bad luck or have all my friends turn into zombies who will come hungrily banging at my door tonight. Instead, if I disregard the award, I will miss an opportunity to bask in the glory of winning (hooray for me!) and most importantly I will not be able to share with my blog friends some blogs that I truly enjoy.
So without further adieu here are my five picks in no particular order. They are a mixture of blogs I have followed for awhile and ones I have recently stumbled upon; all I very much enjoy and hope you will too.
Thank you so much for nominating my blog. Very unexpected.
You are very welcome. 🙂
Congrats – still might be a form letter 😉
To the first part of your comment – thank you. To the latter – harumph!! 😉
Thank you so much for the nomination! 🙂 I’ve nominated you for this award and the Versatile Blog Award, too (more info about it in my latest post). 🙂
Wow, thank you! I checked out your latest post to learn about the Versatile Blog Award and think it may take me a bit to put that one together. 🙂 I am so thrilled you are reading and enjoying my blog!
I really do enjoy it very much. 🙂
Nice job! It is sort of a chain letter (I guess) but the benefit is you get new reader and isn’t that what we all want? 🙂
Can’t wait to check out your favorite blogs and thanks for nice write-up about mine. 🙂
I love new (and old) readers. It is fun to know other people out there are reading what I have to say and even more exciting when they comment or give that old “like” button a push.
I hope you enjoy my blog picks. Yours is one of my favorites so it was extra special to get this, my very first blog award, from you.
WOW again! Thank you SOOOOOOO much for nominating my blog! Your blog is such a good read, and I am so honored that you would think of my little corner of the world for a Liebster award. Now I am looking forward to checking out the other 4 blogs you listed….cheers and happy blogging!
You are very welcome. I find your blog to be such a great mix of the ordinary, being a mother (which is really more extraordinary), in an environment that is so foreign, complex, and fasacinating to me. I enjoy your writing and the photos that go along with it. Hope you find my other blog picks to be good reads as well. 🙂
you know, I thought about this chain letter idea and I don’t think it is at all. It’s more like a grass roots campaign, and there really is no good way for us “minor players” in the blogosphere to recognize each other as doing something interesting with our blogs. I love this idea. And thanks again.
That is a good way of looking at it. There are so many of us out there blogging away that don’t get much recognition. I know, for me, there have been times when I felt that my thoughts were not really blog worthy especially when compared to the “major players” I read but then it all gets back to the fact that I enjoy it and it is helpful to me. It is just frosting on that proverbial cake that others read, comment, and enjoy it as well!
