Simple Sunday – Catnip, a Gateway Drug?

Earlier this week I splurged and bought the cats an all natural catnip filled hemp mouse.  Delilah chewed on it, batted it around, and then went and took a nap.  Bleu, however, just would not stop.

I hope I have not opened the door to full on drug use by introducing him to catnip.  I fear that one day I may walk into a room and find him hunkered over a ripped apart catnip toy, its contents neatly lined up on a mirror, and Bleu with a straw up to his nose.

  1. So funny! Another great title! When I had kitties years ago, I would sometimes make a catnip bath to help me relax and I would always end up with both kitties on the edge of the bathtub sticking tentative paws into the water.

Years ago I had a cat that got really weird after we got him a catnip-infused scratching pad–he’d sit on it a LOT. Sometimes he’d scratch it furiously, then scratch the air for a while, then wander around aimlessly and end up sitting with his nose against a blank wall for extended periods of time… Eventually we decided he wasn’t handing the drugs well so we had to cut him off.

Hahahaha – it sounds like your cat had a bad drug trip. Bleu was enjoying himself way too much. He eventually went into the living room, climbed up on the rocking chair and slept it off.

  4. Thanks for reposting this incredible story. Wow is about all I can say – so emotional.
    Happy 7th b-day to Cody.

I hope it does not sound silly for me to say this, but I get goose bumps every time I read this. I don’t think I have ever truly grasped how much his birth has affected me, but it most surely.

Oh, and the birthday boy lost his first front tooth on his birthday after many months of wiggling and twisting. Quite exciting!
