According to several gardening sites, the “Wonderful” variety of pomegranate is the most common and most prolific bearer of fruit in Arizona and California. Carter came home with this, picked from our neighbor’s yard (with permission, of course). I thought it very pretty sitting there on our counter.
And what a wonderful name it has!

Poms are a bit too much work for such small reward, IMO. I’d take apples, pears, and berries any day!
It looks beautiful. Classy name, indeed. They are tasty. Just wish they weren’t so labor intensive.
I really do like Pom seeds but the effort and staining of the fingers, I don’t appreciate.

Now I want pomegranates in my backyard! I wonder if they would grow?
I’m not sure, but it seems that they like heat. Two of our neighbors have them. We planted three different citrus trees, so I think we can barter citrus for pomegranates. 🙂
Ahahaha! I see this often & wonder what is even up with this not-pomegranate-y pomegranate. I’m thus tickled to see it’s called “wonderful.” The error is apparently in my perception. 😉
