Tonight this happened.

me:  It’s double shower night, people!

(At our house, ever other night is double shower night.  This means that both boys need to shower.  Cody is older and participates in P.E. so he is required to shower every night.  Carter can get away with a shower every other night.  Both boys do not like to shower.  I don’t know why and you would never guess it by the way they sing while washing up.)

Cody:  but… 

(He says with with a small smile and a fake lip quiver, knowing that he can not get out of it, but wanting to express his displeasure.)

me:  Without missing a beat, Yup, you have to wash that too! 

I grin at my joke.

Cody:  (Under his breath and with a smile I would like to think was steeped in awe he says,) nice. 

And walks away.

I seriously love that he got my joke and found it worthy of a nice.
