Fur Friday – Cat Camo

Finding just the right background to fade into – Cat-ouflage.

Chloe cleverly utilizes the colors and textures of our voluminous bathmat, carefully aligning herself with the multitone stripes.

Leia chooses the quiet, out of the way spaces of empty dining room chairs. She was so cat-ouflaged I almost couldn’t find her for this photoshoot. The eyes give her away.

James, neither stripe aligned nor tucked under furniture, instead decides upon behavioral cat-ouflage as he flattens himself out and plays dead. His fabric choice, while a bit faded, does hint at an attempt of blending with the tired dog bed.

If this were a competition, who would win? Do your cats cat-ouflage and if so, how well?

I vote for picture #1. And no, we’ve never had any cats who like to blend in. Dudley plops down right in front of us as we’re walking down the hall. He wants you to see him!

Chloe is quite clever in her choice of background. Ahh, Dudley, what a little stinker. James like to run in front of us to see if he can trip us.

  2. So funny! Bathmat wins for me.
I just cleaned out a litter box for possibly the first time in my life. I thought of telling my kids it’s like a treasure hunt, to try to entice them to do it next time. 😉

I agree with the bathmat for the win.
Ha! I don’t think equating litter box cleaning to a treasure hunt is a good idea, although it is quite funny! First time cleaning out a litter box? Did you just get a cat? Do tell!

      • We are cat sitting while our niece is getting married out of state. (Just too darn hard for us to get there.) The two cats are cute and fluffy and get hair everywhere. One morning we found that our butter dish had been licked clean and there were holes in our window screen. Not feeling so worth it to have cats of our own, but they’re fun for a visit!

Yes, some cat proofing is necessary to make it feel like cats can be well integrated. Chloe loves all things dairy and so when I am setting the table for a meal, one of the boys gets to stand guard. Windows can only be opened a crack unless someone is there otherwise James climbs the screens and his lofty heft threatens to push the entire screen out. They are fun to visit, I imagine!
