The other day I walked into our kitchen only to be confronted by a large rat. After a quick double take to make sure it was of the stuffed animal variety I immediately got the UB40 song Rat in Mi Kitchen stuck in my head where it has lodged itself in my brain and stayed for the better part of two weeks. I am hoping that by writing this post, it will be purged from my head. Sorry if it ends up in yours.
Oh, and since I am talking about random things I find in my house that I can only assume happen because I have children, yesterday I found cupcake crumbs on the bathroom rug. It did not even cause me to raise an eyebrow. I am not sure how all that ties into the rat in the kitchen but there you go.
The rat ate the cupcake and then had to go to the bathroom. Whatever you do, don’t think it was a little boy..Besides, that’s one big (and cute) rat – even they have to eat goodies!
Hahaha! I had not made that, now glaringly obvious, connection. Of course it was the rat! And I bet that rat is responsible for the dirty socks I keep finding laying around the house and maybe even the puddles of water on the bathroom floor after the boys take a bath. It is a good thing for the rat that he is cute!
Rats in your kitchen, elephants eating dinner in mine Saturday night…those cupcakes didn’t stand a chance!
Oh dear, those animals are running amuck! At least for the most part they have good table manners and are easy to tuck into bed at night. 😉
I completely understand the crumbs in the bathroom. I found Oreo “remains” in mine. Didn’t even blink.
It is funny the things that don’t make me flinch now that I have kids.
I’m glad I don’t know this song, for I’m sure it would be stuck in my head as well! I hate when that happens. LOL
It is still stuck in mine – it does not help that the boys have two of these stuffed rats that keep popping up around the house. Sigh.
Kids are so funny! A few days ago one of my girls pulled a gummy candy “cheeseburger” out of her boot… she said she thought it was an eraser. (!)
Hahaha – I guess a boot is a good storage place for an eraser but not so much for gummy candy. 🙂
I was scrolling down your home page when I read, “Rat In Mi Kitchen,” my breath caught in my throat as the picture came into view and I was ready to be horrified and then had a nice giggle over the little stuffed animal! So fun!
Hehehe – glad I was able to give you a giggle. The stuffed rats are pretty obviously not real but some of the boys’ plastic spiders, bugs, and snakes look very real, especially when they are in the carpet. They give me a fright sometimes.
