Simple Sunday – Tis the Season for Christmas Tree Trimming Tomfoolery

I think it is simply because we are big dorks who like to capture the random moments of life.

But every year for the past several years, we set up the tripod, program the camera to auto snap a picture every minute, and go about decorating our Christmas tree.

The camera gives a little flash of light a second or two before the picture is snapped, giving us plenty of time to ham it up.

Sometimes we try, halfheartedly to get a nice family picture of us once the tree is decorated.  They never turn out – but it is fun to try nonetheless.

It is amusing to go back and look at these pictures which we usually do on the night we are setting up the tripod to capture another year of Christmas tree trimming tomfoolery.

Here is one final picture for you.

And if you care to revisit some of the highlights from last year’s tree trimming you may do so here.  I highly recommend it for I find it pretty darn funny.  But then that is just me…

Gorgeous tree, lovely pics, and I love the reflection, too. Off to see last years again now. 🙂

What a lovely tradition! It’s the tomfoolery and random moments in life that matter most ;-).

I quite agree with you. It is all about those little times spend with the ones you love doing simple things. We are all about celebrating little family traditions.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.

  6. Fun! I’ve been taking photos of our kids in Santa hats every year since they were babies. I keep them in a frame on our piano year round. It’s starting to get a little thick with photos – I long ago had to take the cardboard filler out of the back to leave me enough room. Maybe its time to transfer them all to an album.

I adore the Santa hat tradition! I vote that you continue to use up all that piano top space and keep them out of an album for as long as possible.

  7. And family, of course! 🙂

I like the idea of the camera as a robot, documenting the decoration of the tree, and your children seem very sweet.

I like the idea too. During the tree trimming, we sometimes forget it is there and we end up getting some nice simple family shots of our activity. My boys are very sweet, but then I am a bit bias, I suppose.

What a great idea! Those are times to remember, for sure. I especially loved the last photo — of your little guy looking at the tree with all its lights — so innocent.

Yeah, the last photo is my favorite as well. Carter got hungry after all the decorating so he grabbed an apple from our fruit dish and walked all around the tree nibbling the apple and looking at the lights and decorations. So sweet…
