Simple Sunday–I’ve Lost My Head

The fish bones

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Husband thinks no one out there will know what I am talking about; could somebody please prove him wrong?

Great – now I’ll be singing that the rest of the evening. πŸ™‚ I don’t know where it comes from but I’ve heard it as a song – my dad used to sing it to us when we cleaned fish after fishing and now he sings is with the grandkids (and of course pretends that he’s going to actually eat the fish head).

Hahaha – I bet the grandkids find that hilarious! I was out walking the beach with Carter, who is three, and we discovered these fish bones. I burst into song and Carter had to point out to me that there were no fish heads.

  2. Yoga Mama says:

ok. this is aging us both…but for you admit to knowing this song. And on it’s heels, for me, is Dana Carvey singing “chopping broccoli”….anyone?

  3. Oh, yeah…this is classic-al music, no doubt. Pity the soul who did not grow up singing along to songs like “Fish Heads” and “Chopping Broccoli.” Figures that I also had Steve Martin’s “King Tut” single on vinyl, a 45, prior to those gems. Thanks for the flashback!

I looked up the video on youtube for fish heads and it was rated in the top 100 videos of all times by Rolling Stones. I am not quite sure I can get behind that but it did give me (and my children) a good laugh. Steve Martin’s “King Tut” – awesome! πŸ™‚

  4. Jodi Stone says:

I’ve heard the chant (and even chanted it myself) but I have no idea where it came from. πŸ™‚ Does that help?

I am not sure where I picked up the lovely little song either. Husband thinks I heard about it from Dr. Demento but I am not sure about that. I am glad several people commented that they know it – makes me feel a little less nutty. πŸ™‚
