These are a few of my Favorite Things

Because I can’t seem to actually take a break from blogging like I told you I would, I thought I would share with you a few happy random moments from the past couple of days.

Carter continues to wow us with his cutting edge fashion statements:

Carter as Bernie

Everytime I look at this picture I crack up. I don’t know if it is the glasses, the hat, the expression or a combination of these things but he reminds me of Bernie from the movie Weekend at Bernie’s.

The boys created a zoo at the end of our hallway.  Cody and Carter both assured Husband and I that the animals were very well trained if there was a successful escape.

The zoo at the end of the hallway

The only zoo in the world with a T-rex and a roaming black panther.

Last night while we slept a fine powdering of snow fell, the first snowfall of the year.

The boys took advantage of their youth and speed and snuck out the door before Husband and I were ready for our morning walk to the bus stop. We were met with snowballs flying.

Watch out for that snowball

Someone should really put away those summer lawn chairs…

We allowed ourselves some extra “snow time” on our walk.  Each ice encrusted puddle had to be examined (and then stomped) and several snowballs had to be melted in the ditch water.

Both Husband and I told Carter that pocketing snow was not a worthwhile activity but you can see by the wet spot on his jacket that he had to find this out for himself.

Carters pocket full of snow

Pocket full of snow. Better than a pocket full of kryptonite I suppose.

And lastly I got a short email from a mom of one of Cody’s classmates today that warmed my heart.  Apparently her daughter has a little crush on Cody and wants to invite him to her birthday party.  The mom was worried how Cody would feel as he would be the only boy invited.  I assured her that Cody would not care, in fact I am not even sure he would notice.  I will have to do a bit of spy work when I help out in the classroom tomorrow.  I wouldn’t want just any little girl crushing on my sweet Cody.

Alright back to taking that blogging break I keep having to remind you about.

    It’s addictive, isn’t it?

  2. The only zoo with the JAGUAR LOOSE !!!!

LOL! You’re addicted! You can’t take a break? What would we, your readers, read? 😉 But seriously though, I haven’t had a ton of time to read lately and when I saw this post in my inbox I just couldn’t resist! I love Carter’s outfit. He is definitely a little man of fashion. And that’s a great zoo!

I have been trying very hard to take a break but little things keep popping into my head (or big things with the CT shooting.) The boys are off school for the next two weeks so I don’t imagine I will have much time for blogging but who knows. I would not want to leave all my dear readers with nothing to read. 🙂 Plus Carter may come up with another cute and creative outfit I just have to share.

Great! I’m used to being super busy what with two kids, two jobs (three if you count motherhood 😉 ), a house, a blog, etc., etc. But I’m off work for the next week and a half and I’m looking forward to catching on my reading. So I hope you blog a little bit and I “see” you around the blogoverse. Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday to you and your family if I don’t “see” you!

  4. Love the Weekend at Bernie’s look. It’s a classic, really. Nate came out of my In-Law’s basement one evening wearing yellow ski googles, flippers and a Spaceballs button. Such a great combo! Also can relate on the birthday- one of his friends wants to invite him to her princess birthday party. Just Nate and 3 little girls all in an explosion of pink. He said he wants to go but only if he can be the king.

    • shoes says:

It is a real classic style for the ages isn’t it?

Too funny about Nate wanting to be king at the princess party. I have not told Cody about the possible invite to an all girls party but I would be suprised if he noticed it.

Weekend at Bernie’s, I’d have to agree. And that zoo takes me back some years and actually took my breath away a little bit. My kids used to do something very similar when they were younger. It goes fast. Love every minute.

Totally Weekend at Bernie’s! Ah, I hate to think that one day my boys will no longer want to build cardboard brick zoos for their stuffed animals… The bricks are the most played with toy ever so we are getting them some more for Christmas.

  6. Heya…i know this is rabdom but i started a new blog if you are interested , here is the link http://selflessnesslovestrength.wordpress.com/ its more personal…

  7. OH my goodness!!! What winter fun! Can’t wait to be back on reading more of you my friend!

    • shoes says:

I hope you are well and surviving the cold white stuff falling from your skies! We are hoping for a bit more of the winter wonderland but it looks as though we are getting more in the way of rain. Hugs to you and your beautiful family!

  8. Loved that–very cute. You seemed to have disappeared from my reader so I re-followed you and hopefully that did the trick…
